Another week!

The animals just got done opening their stockings. They get so excited by the new toys and treats. Today, I did a short swim of 1250 yards as the gym had holiday hours. I plan to lift weights at home.

The past week was another busy one. I worked Monday night and then had meetings all day on Tuesday. Monday's workout consisted of lifting weights. I had a good workout considering the lack of sleep. I worked Tuesday night and again had meetings all day on Wednesday.

Tuesday, run was nice with the warmer temps; I did 5.2 miles.

Wednesday, I lifted weights and again had a good workout.

Thursday, I ran 3 quick miles and then did a pool workout with a combination of swimming, water running, and strength building exercises.

Friday, I attended Don's spinning class, which is always an experience. I maxed out the resistance on the bike during the hill climbs. Spinning class was a great workout.

Saturday, I did a ten mile run that felt like 20! Running from St. Louis Park, the route consisted of rolling hills. The snow was fluffy until the snow plow came through and covered the sidewalks with icy chunks making the terrain very uneven. I don't know what was worst the achiness while running or the achiness when you stopped.

Sunday, I went to spinning class. The class had a good mix of sprinting and hill climbing. A instructor, whom I'm not familiar with had taught the class.

I hope to rest up this week as work should be pretty relaxed. Oh....I can't forget! My bike came in! I hope to make to Gear West this week to pick it up, yay!!!!

Better week of workouts

It was a much better week-my cold seems to be getting better. Tuesday, I did a short swim with a total of 600 yards and then a short 2 mile run to follow.

Wednesday, I went to spinning class. The focus of the class was endurance-remaining in zone 2. Cycle class seems to fly by, which is a big change. I may actually start to enjoy cycling.

Thursday, I did a 6.2 mile run. The run started out okay, however it was extremely COLD! The wind had really picked up on the way back. I am really looking forward to some warmer weather-they say possibly this week.

Friday, I did a 45 minute swim-again with a focus on endurance. My stroke felt off-probably because of the lack of swimming I have done in the past couple of weeks.

Saturday, again another cold and icy run. Four miles felt like twenty miles-I couldn't run fast enough, although Shadow had a great time!

Sunday, A big workout day! I couldn't bear another cold run, so I did 10 miles on the treadmill. I don't know what is worst cold or BORING! I finished the days workouts with spinning class. Again the focus of the spinning class was endurance with rolling hills.

Classes are done for the semester-Yay! I finished my last final today! It will be nice to have a little more free time the next couple of weeks. Next, semester starts up in January-the I week I returned from Florida. The plan is to only take 6 credits spring and summer; then to return to full time following the Ironman.

Still have a cold:(

Workouts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday were skipped as I was still under the weather. Thursday was my last on-site class for the semester; I'm so happy!

Friday, I went to spinning class with Don and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill. Sunday, I did a sixteen mile run on the treadmill(you know that I sick as I HATE running on the treadmill). I then went to spinning class with Marcia.

Today's plan is to lift weights.

I finally got on my trainer!

My workouts have been pretty mild the past couple of days as I have been fighting a cold. Friday, I finally gave my trainer a try! I have decided that I'm a people workout junkie. The thirty minutes I spent on the trainer were tragic-I was a clock watcher and a second counter.

Saturday, I intended on running-I maybe got a half mile run in, although I had a great walk in the snow to Space Aliens with Liz and Stef to find out it was closed because of the weather. Last I checked I think that we live in Minnesota-so why were they closed with only maybe 5 inches of snow on the ground.

Sunday-I woke up feeling miserable! Sore throat, achy, horrible, HORRIBlE, and HORRIBLE! I went to Target and stocked up on cold medications and kleenex, then spent the rest of the day in bed. I did force myself to get on the trainer for a hour-as if I didn't feel crappy enough, but then I bored myself to death! I just don't like the trainer, but I will keep at it.

Monday, again day in bed following a restless night with a 101.9 temp:( I continued with the cold medications, immunity tea, Zicam. I made it to the gym for a weightlifting workout-I kept it light as I wasn't feeling great.

Today (Tuesday), I haven't had a chance to get a workout in as I have tons of homework to do before I head down to Mankato on Thursday. Today, I had to meet with the magnet surveyors which went really well. We had a closing gathering as one last chance to express to the magnet people our thoughts about Gillette-what an emotional experience! Kleenex boxes were being passed around as people were telling their story about how Gillette affected their lives-it was really cool and proud to be part of such a great organization.

treadmill anyone?

Monday following Christmas shopping I came home and put my Christmas tree. My tree hasn't been up for four years as my cats love to climb, eat, and tip it over. We are now enetering day 3 and the tree is still standing-keep your fingers crossed!

Tuesdays workout consisted of a hill treadmill workout:

10 minutes zone 1 pace
10 minutes zone 2 pace
6 x 20 second elevation at 7.5 (1 minute intervals)
1 minute of walking
6 x 20 second elevation at 10 (1 minute intervals)
1 minute of walking
2 x 20 second elevation at 12.5 (1 minute intervals)-This is when the treadmill broke! The treadmill wouldn't go down!

I should have done one interval of zone 3 at 0 elevation and 1 mph faster-(I never got to this because of the broken treadmill.

The hill workout was great and butt kicking!

I then got in the pool and did an easy 45 minute swim.

Today's plan consists of lifting weights.

Spinning class

I was tired during yesterday's spinning class with Marcia-it must have been all the shopping lately. I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping, which is a miracle. I am usually one of those mo-fo's running around at the last minute.

At work tonight, I was shopping for new tri stuff until the computer booted me off:( Anyways, my scheduled workout for Monday consists of lifting weights.

Missed a whole week of blogging!

Wow, I missed a whole week of blogging. I really need to work on my diet-this week I ate like crap and probably gained 50 pounds!

Tuesday-I was on schedule to swim. The training schedule suggested test swim of 3x300 freestyle desending with a warm-up and cool-down. I felt awesome! I then ran with the run club with only having the intention of doing 3 miles. I ended up doing 7.8 miles instead.

Wednesday-I went to spinning class with Don (a different Don). We focused on endurance for long period in zone 2-3. It was a good class.

Thursday-I had gotten home from work and was toasted! I had set my alarm with the intention of getting a swim in before the gym closed. I slept through my alram and didn't get up until almost 2pm. I did take Shadow for a 3 mile run-she is a "Crazy B"!

Friday was my day off-I spent it shopping downtown with Liz, Jen and Aaron. There is something about going downtown this time of the year. What super fun day! We took the city bus downtown from Northtown and started out at Macy's. Jen and Aaron then met up with us for lunch at Hells Kitchen. We then finished our shopping at the IDS. We had a low key night at Jen's house just watching Rudolph and Men in Trees.

Anyway-Saturday-
I got up early to run but instead went shopping. I did however get a 14 mile run down at the lakes. It was really nice running down there yesterday! There were a ton of people out walking, running, biking, and rollerblading. The Run went prett well, although my legs were tight.

Today- plan includes cycling-maybe I will get on my trainer or there is spinning class with Marcia today.

Crazy B

I have that song stuck in my head from my workout today! I lifted weights today and I discovered that I am a WIMP! No not really, however I do remember a time when I had A LOT more upper body strength.

The semester for school is coming to an end-thank god! I don't know how much more nursing theory I can take!

Determination

"Determination to fight, Determination to be strong, Determination to win-I am an ATHLETE" (Maybe I will make the Nike commercial)

Wednesday was a welcomed day off! I needed the rest from the stressful week I was having. Thursday, I lifted weights and then ran with the run club (6.4 miles).

Friday, I did a mile swim with a cool down and then went to Don's spinning class. I love his class! He plays the best music!

Saturday, we a seven mile run with intention of doing 14 miles.

Today is the day! IM Louisville is going to be aired-I have my TVIO set! Todays workout is spinnig class with Marcia.

Great workouts!

Today,
I started with a morning swim of 2050 yards. I felt great! I am getting back in the groove with my swimming. My stroke felt smooth and back on.

I then did a 6.3 mile run with the run back-at a pretty good pace (9:36/ mile).

Great workouts today:)

Friday, I made it to spinning and skipped the swimming session. Work was crazy this last weekend-I am sooooo glad I have a night off! Back to Friday's workouts, I took it easy during spinning class-steady steady steady was my focus. I ended up skipping my swim workout as I was trying to get all my homework done and ran out of time before having to head back to work. I ended up getting out of work late on Saturday morning due to the craziness of the night-I ended up missing my morning run. I went to Corrine's basket party and headed home to finish the two papers that were due-not enough time in the day!!!!! Saturday night again was full of craziness which led to a late discharge from work-I finally got some sleep though. Sunday, I did a short run (2.2 miles)-I was stiff from the lack of working out over the previous days. I then went to spinning class-we did a workout full of sprints.

My plan for today includes lifting weights.

Almost another week done

I slacked on the blogging this week:( Tuesday, I did a short two mile run as that was my day to just swim. I did end up getting in the pool to do a short set (1200 yards). I had hoped to get more yards in the pool, however there was a crabby old guy that refused to share his lane while the water aerobics class was going on (they take up 1/2 the pool).
Wednesday was my day off-I felt extremely antsy to do something; kind of like tapering. I know that my training will be better off if I hold back now.
Thursday, I did a 6.2 mile run at approximently @ 9:00 minute pace. Prior to my run I did the suggested weightlifting routine recommended by the plan that I am currently following. The routine focuses on the muscle groups that are used with each phase of the triathlon.
I met with a new coach yesterday! She was great! I met with her for about an hour and half. The consultation session was sooo helpful and I learned a ton! I will keep you posted regarding the coaching. I started my christmas list after I got home from the consulation-I love Gear West!
Today, the plan is to swim and go to spinning class.

It's snowing!

As I left the gym, I noticed the flurries. I'm not ready yet! Yesterday, I attended the new spinning class, which kicked my butt! Today, I lifted weights for about an hour.

Can you believe it November?

Last night I went to spinning class and then got in the pool. Today, I ran eight miles....where did the cold weather come from? I was freezing! Todays, run was difficult for me as my legs were tight from biking last night. Holding back has been hard for me, as I feel that I'm not getting a great workout.

Happy Holloween

Last night at run club we did 4.5 miles and I felt great. I feel that I have recovered from my trip and the 1/2 marathon. Today the plan is to lift some weights and do lots of abs (critically needed after viewing my marathon photos!)

Tomorrow, will be my day off this week as I head to Mankato for 12 grueling hours of class with the verbal vomiters:(

Training started

Training finally started! I recently got back from running the Nike Women's 1/2 marathon in San. Fran. What an experience!
Yesterday, I started my base phase of my ironman training. Not having a lot of time, I did a short weight lifting routine and got in the pool and swam about 1000 yds. I haven't swam since my last triathlon which was in August, so I just took it easy. This part of my training is to focus on maintaining with a slow build and form.
