I can't believe its been over a week since I last blogged (I don't know if that's proper). I have been busy as usual not leaving much time for anything too fun! My homework for my classes have filled most of my time and the few hours left over went to working out.
Last Monday, I did a 4 mile run with run club but ended up skipping my swim. I'm finding it really hard to get into the pool!
Tuesday: I skipped my workouts all together-not starting the week off well!
Wednesday: I spun for 45 minutes at the club, then lifted weights. I did only 3 miles with run club-it was really slippery!
Thursday: I lifted weights and then finally got in the pool for 1700 yards. My shoulder was really bothering me during the swim.
Friday: I conned my mom into going to spinning with me! We attended Don's spinning class. My mom told me later that she won't ever do spinning class again. My dad is next!
Saturday: I did 10 miles on the treadmill-I was ready to shoot myself!
Sunday: Spinning class with Marcia.
So there was my week in review. My workouts will be minimal for the next couple of days-I went for more allergy testing today and they placed patches on my back which have to stay there for two days not allowing for strenuous exercise-itchy itchy! I plan to lift weights over the next couple of days.

Once I got back into town on Friday all I wanted to do was go to bed! I hadn't slept well while in Mankato and with the million things to get done prior getting to Mankato didn't allow for much sleep either. I ended up taking a short snoozer and then headed to the gym for spinning class and a short run on the treadmill. I only ended up getting a mile in on the treadmill before I felt that I was going to pass out from exhaustion-yes I hit that point too! I ended up getting home took another short nap and headed into work that night-thank god it was busy otherwise, I may have pushed a patient out of their bed.
Saturday to continue with short naps to maintain my sleep or lack of, I reassessed all the work I have to do for school this semester! I organized my school stuff and headed out for a run-I ended up doing 3 miles down around Lake Harriet. Even though the temperature has risen the weather conditions were not ideal for running-lots of wind, ice and snow! After the run I did a bit of reading for my Advance Pharmacology class and went to bed for another nap. I ended up getting canceled from work, so I made my way back to the gym to finish my run for the day! I ended up getting a total of eight miles in for Saturday and I FINALLY got a good night of sleep!
Today's plan is to attend spinning class at 4 pm and finish my homework!

Day 3
The run for day 3 went well. I ended up doing 5.5 miles on the dreadmill as Erica would put it. The weather conditions were unbearable causing run club to be canceled. At least Jen was willing to suffer through the misery of running on the treadmill.
I ended up missing my swim that day because I had a million things to do in order to be able to make my classes in Mankato on Thursday. I did hope that the -35 windchill would bring a school closure-but not.
Anyways, Thursday was my scheduled day off from a workout. I had hoped to make up the swim workout that was missed from Wednesday and lift weight but the misery of walking outside and hanging out having a beer with a friend from school sounded much better.
On my plate for today (Friday) is a run and bike. I will probably attend Don's spinning class and probably hit the treadmill again as the temps are not acceptable for running yet. I look forward to the warm up coming this weekend and next week.
I hope that Cindy has fantastic weather for her first marathon this weekend in Redding, California-Best of luck!!!!!

Day 2
Day 2 of the training plan went well. I attended Don's spinning class, although I spent most of the class doing my own thing. Following spinning I finished my strength training routine.
I was a little tired today-probably due to the cold icky weather.

Day 1
Today was day one of my new training program. My workouts started with a swim totaling 2400 yards. The training plan called for 2600-but I had only made it in the pool once since the Ironman. My stroke actually felt pretty good-until my shoulders got tired. I was happy with my swim today run.
I then was leading run club tonight-the training plan called for 50 minutes of running. I ended up only getting in 3 miles which took 33 minutes because the snow so deep. The wind had picked up and against us for a good portion of the run. Tonight's run felt like 10 miles!
Overall I felt that day 1 went well!
The question is....
Is Park Rapids a dry town? Over the weekend Corrine, Maureen, Kevin, and Erica headed to the Rainbow Resort for a Run Club retreat in Waubon, MN. On the way, we wanted to stop at a fun little towny bar and guess what-we couldn't find one! The pizza joint didn't even sell beer! And no liquor stores-good thing we had plenty of wine in the car. Once we made it to the resort and got things unpacked we popped a couple bottles of wine and the gang threw me a birthday party (cake and all!)-Thanks guys! Later that night, Amy (the coordinator of the weekend) stopped by to introduce herself, take us on a tour of the resort, and get us set up with our equipment.
The weekend was packed full of activity! Saturday started early with a 4 mile run that was really chilly and hilly! We ran the road that led into the resort and along Lake Little Bemiji. The run was cold-I believe -12 degrees, but surprisedly with all my layers, I remained comfortable. After the run, we had breakfast in the lodge and then headed to the trail head for some cross country skiing. Erica and I headed out on the trails while everyone else stayed for the the lessons. We attempted the 6k course and shortly found ourselves lost. We finally made our way back towards the lodge and the others were just finishing up their lessons. We then attempted the 6k trail again-of course we got lost again! I'm guessing, but I'm sure did at least 10 miles skiing. As soon as we were done skiing the resort workers had lunch ready for us (pizza, salad, and soup). After lunch we had a short talk about training/races, then out again for more activity. We picked up the snowshoes and the frisbees. We played some frisbee golf on snowshoes-all I have to say is that I STINK at frisbee golf (I'm about as good at frisbee golf as I am at white trash golf). I think that we only ended up playing 3 holes and made our way back through 3+ feet deep snow. After all the activity, finally we got a chance to relax and shower! That night we ended up hosting a potluck and conversation. The relaxation didn't last too long as we ended up going skating under the moon light and then made our way out to the fish houses to explore. Whew what a day! You would think that I would have slept hard that night-NOPE!
Sunday started early as well! We started off cross country skiing at 7:00 in the morning-others went running. We first attempted to ski the frisbee golf course but we didn't make it past the the first hill before Erica crawled/ wiped out and Maureen got frustrated! We then headed back to the other trails and ended up only going about a mile-my ankles were really sore from the boots rubbing. Next we went to yoga-yoga didn't go well not because of the poses but the continuous giggling! The narrator on the tape was ridiculous causing me to start crack up, which started the chain reaction between Laura, Corrine, Maureen, Amy, and I. Finishing up the morning we had breakfast, another talk about training/gear, and then took another walk out to the fish houses. The weekend was over, we packed up the car and headed back to the cities. The trip went fast especially the car ride home as we did sang our emotional songs all the way back!
I finally got my training plan from Alltriathlon.com-I'm excited to get started! Today is day one and I have a swim workout and a run planned.

I have had some good workouts over the past couple of days-what I mean by good is that I actually feel as though I have gotten something out of them. I maybe have gotten over the hump of a lack of motivation or maybe its just starting a new year.
Monday, I did a 4.25 mile run with Run Club. We were going at a fast pace but with the snow and ice it felt as though we have run double the distance at a really fast pace. The weather was great for running on Monday, I think it was in the 20's (only people from midwest would say that).
Tuesday, I ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill and lifted weights. My miles were broken up by sets of weights-as Jen would say it is a great way to hide some running in the strength workout. I did some of the new exercises that Jen showed me from her last appointment with her trainer-last time I did them I was sore for 3 days!
Wednesday, I repeated the same route that I ran on Monday totally 4.25 miles. The dusting of snow made the run hard! My right knee was bothering me for most of the run-I think its a result of running on the uneven, slippery streets and sidewalks. The ache in my knee cleared up as soon as I was done running.
Today I need to pack and get my house in order for my upcoming weekend retreat to Detroit Lakes. I look forward to the running, snowshoeing, skiing, tubing, and of course a glass of wine with my friends!
Oh, I forgot to add that I signed up for my training plan through Alltriathon.com-I think the plan should arrive tomorrow. Also, I signed up for the Madison Ironman training camp in June.

The new year has started and along with everyone else I have high hopes of eating healthier and workout on a regular basis. So far (only being 5 days into the new year) I feel as though I'm eating healthier-we will see how long it will last.
I have been trying to figure out my training for my upcoming racing season-coaching vs no coaching; local coaching vs online coaching. I think that I have ruled out coaching from P2, which makes me sad! My busy schedule will not accomodate the practices held and its costly if I'm not taking advantage of the practices. I am pretty sure that my mind it made up with online coaching-it is the less expensive option.
Yesterday, I took the day off from working out.
Saturday, I got in the pool for a short swim of 1000 yards-The first time since the Ironman!
Friday-I attended spinning class
Thursday -3 mile run on the treadmill and lifted weights with Jen.
Wednesday-a five mile run on the treadmill.
