It has been another busy week with school. I had a presentation on Thursday and a paper due on Friday. I was down in Mankato Thursday and Friday.
Wednesday, my bike ride was short lived! I only rode for a little of 3 miles. The weather was gorgous! I was too busy trying to prepare for my busy school week.
Thursday morning I headed to Mankato. My workout on Wednesday was a 5 mile run around the track-BORING!!!! However running around the track was better than getting drenched running outside. I ended up staying the night in Mankato.
Friday, I had class in the morning and then headed back to the cities. My workout was a short 4.5 mile run on the treadmill. I don't know what is worse running around the track or on the treadmill.
It looks like winter is back for the next couple of days:(

Loving the weather!
What a gorgeous day! I attended a day long triathlon clinic. We started in the water and did drills for two hours. Although the clinic leader didn't have a lot of advice to give me, I felt the swim drills were beneficial. Most often I include some drill work into my swim workouts however, I most often in a rush to get the workout finished and not taking the time to really focus on form. We then headed over to the government center where we had some classroom time to discuss the other aspects of triathlon racing/training.
After the clinic finished I met Jen R. for a 12 mile bike ride at the Coon Rapids Dam. It was great to get out on my bike, but we spent good amount of time dodging people.

Earth Day 1/2 Marathon

Today, I ran the Earth Day 1/2 Marathon in St. Cloud. This race is super fun; a challenging but nice course. The race started at 9:00 and it was about 45 degrees. My legs were pretty stiff the first mile, but after I warmed up I felt strong. Eric ended catching up with me during the first mile and ended up running the race with me. My finish time was a 1:49-A PR by 7 minutes!!!!

Warmer weather this week, however it was extremely windy!
Monday,
I did a short swim of 1500 yards. I was having some problems with cramping in the my feet and calves. I then finished my workout with a 4 mile run.
Tuesday, I took my Cervelo out for the first time! I did a 18.32 mile ride on the Coon Rapids Dam/Elm Creek trail. It was great to feel the warm weather. The ride was fun however there were times that I was afraid that I was going to be tossed off my bike by the 45 mile/hour wind gusts. I did see a deer and three wild turkeys along the way. I also tried out the new saddle which was a ton more comfortable. I finished my workouts for the day with a 7.3 mile run along the Coon Creek trail.
Wednesday, my workout consisted of 2200 yard swim. I was working on speed. The swim went well.
Thursday, I was suppose to take the day off, however I ended up running 3 miles. I have hard time sitting still!
Today's workout will be a short 30 minute SLOW run to loosen up the legs for tomorrows half marathon. I will be heading up to St. Cloud later today.

Today as I was driving home and listening to the weather on the radio our friend "Dave" had said spring has sprung and the snow is done-I hope he is right!
Last Thursday workout was done inside on the treadmill:( It wasn't that cold, however we couldn' bear to run outside in the crappy slush and snow. We did a hill workout on the treadmills consisting of 5.3 miles.
Earlier, that day I realized that I missed a swim out on Tuesday, so I did get in and did a short 1000 yards in the pool. They had water aerobics going on and it was like swimming in the open water.
Friday's workout consisted of a swim of 2650 yards.
Saturday, I did a 10.5 mile run. The first half of the run I ran outside with Shadow and finished up on the treadmill. The weather was nasty! Sleet and wind.
Sunday's workout was a sceduled brick of biking and running. Due to the cool weather, I ended up attending spinning class for the biking portion. We did 1 hour of climbing out of the saddle. I then finished up with a 3 mile run with Shadow.
Rumor has it that the temp is suppose to rise 10 degrees every day until Wednesday!

It has been a crazy week! I feel like an elastic person being pulled in a million directions.
Monday, I went to the club and spun for a hour. I am saddened by the cool weather and snow. I hope this winter weather will end soon as I beginning to miss my bike. I had taken my new Cervelo off the trainer and had everything tightened up in hopes to get it out on the road.
Tuesday, I ran out of time!!! Owen was readmitted to the hospital with high temps and a CT that was performed showed his ventricles were slightly larger than the previous scan. They plan to put a shunt in on Friday. A lot of my time was spent at the hospital, however I did manage to get a short run of 4.5 miles in on the treadmill.
Today, I attended spinning class. We focused on long speed sessions. I didn't get as much out of the workout today. I'm was feeling a little fatigue from the lack of sleep over the past couple of days.

It was another great week of workouts! Friday, I got my bike out on the roads for a short time-only 36 minutes for a total of 8.3 miles.
Saturday, I went to Lifetime Fitness's Dam Hill workout. We did a warm up of 5.5 miles along the River Road to finish at the locks and dam-Hence the "Dam Hill." The hill is a little longer that a quarter mile long and pretty steep. We did about 5 miles of hill repeats including different exercises such as squats, push ups, crunches, and lunges. It's a great workout! I ended up doing a total of ten miles that day.
Sunday, I got up early and swam 2400 yards. I felt good. The pool was a little clearer on Sunday, but extremely warm! I then did 45 minutes of spinning on my own and a hour of spinning in a class. The focus of the class was hills.
I just looked out the window and it is snowing again-AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!!

What a beautiful day! I got to run in shorts for the first time this season-I have been looking forward to shedding the winter run wear. I started my Thursday workout with my Friday scheduled swim. I am meeting Stef for lunch and didn't think that I would have enough time to do two workouts on Friday.
My swim went well, except that I missed the wall on a flip turn and aspirated pool water-hopefully I don't come down with a rare form of pneumonia or something. I felt pretty strong in the water today, I think the consistency has helped.
Following my swim I did a 5.1 mile run in SHORTS! My legs felt a little tight on the run probably from the kicking during my swim workout. I did the run at a comfortable 8:55 pace.
Friday is suppose to be 60 degrees!!!!! I looked forward to taking my bike out on the roads for a ride.

It has been a week of great workouts:)
Sunday, Again the weather was pretty nice and I got a chance to take my bike out on the roads. I rode 19 miles. On the way out I was doing a pretty good pace and I kept thinking that all the winter spinning must have made a big difference-until I had to come back which was up hill and against the wind. AAAGGGHHH. It was fun to get out on the roads again-I can't wait for my next ride.
Monday, I started my workout with a 3.2 mile run on the treadmill. Trying to pass the time quickly I did hills. I then did a 2500 yard swim focusing on stroke work. The run was boring, which always makes the workout seem harder. The swim went great! My stroke felt smooth and strong.
Tuesday, Run club day. We did a quick run of 4.5 miles down the Coon Creek path. The average pace of the run was 8.38 mph.
Wednesday, I went to spinning class. The focus of the class was endurance. Great workout!
I heard it's suppose to be in the fifties over the weekend-I can't wait!
