My training has been pretty minimal over the past week. We are sitting here waiting for little Owen to come out of surgery. As you can imagine things have bee pretty stressful over the past week, which is emotionally draining and physically exhausting.

Tuesday, I swam 2600 yards and then went to spinning class. Today, I ran on the treadmill-only 3.5 miles.

I returned back to school on Thursday; classes went well and should be very interesting. Thursday, Jan 17th I swam 2500 yards. The swim was difficult as the lane lines were very loose and the pool was busy.

Friday and Saturday were scheduled days off. Sunday, I intended to swim-showed up to the health club and got in my swimming gear to find out the pool was closed:(

Today, I ran 4.5 miles at an easy 10 minute pace. My legs were tight-probably from the lack of running. I then got in the pool and did 1000 yards focusing on form. 4x50 yard swim were timed/strokes counted.

I am really looking forward to getting back on a consistent training scedule following the marathon. It feels great to have the marathon out of the way!

Today is my first official day of training with a coach. I am really excited for my training.

Tuesday, I did a short run of only 1.5 miles as my legs were still very sore. Yesterday, I biked on the trainer at the club; 45 minutes easy, 45 spinning class. The class focus was hills. Biking was difficult as my legs still were pretty sore and tight.

Following spinning, I got an hour massage and feel SO much better today! My tightness and soreness has definitely been greatly decreased.

Marathon 18

I just got back to Minnesota following my run at the Disney World Marathon-what a cold weather shock! I finished my 18th marathon with a time of 4:34. The weather was hot and humid with temps in the 80's. I felt terrible on the the run as stomach issues set in about mile 5 and cramps in my legs started about mile 10. I had changed to using Luna Moons during this race and I think that I made a bad choice! I really like the flavor and the texture of the Luna Moons, however I don't think that they help with cramping. I will switch back to Sport beans which have the electrolytes/minerals to help with cramping.

Way to go to Maureen, Jen, Eric, and Stef who also ran the marathon; Liz ran the 5k!

Today, I plan to get in the pool and run a few miles. I hope to get back to my consistent multisport training now that the marathon is completed.

Happy Birthday to me!

Not much for workouts this week as I leave to run the Disney Marathon. Monday, I got on the trainer for about a half hour and then went Jodee's core class. Tuesday, I ran four miles with the run club. Today will be another low key day as I continue my taper.

I have finished the first phase of my training and eager to get started on the second. The focus of this part of the training is to get the body used to consistent scheduled multisport workouts. The intensity of the workouts will not increase a great amount until the last 13 weeks prior to the triathlon.

I leave bright and early for Florida tomorrow-hopefully the weather is great!

Wednesday's spinning class was focused on endurance in zone 3. The class a great workout.

Thursday, I did a short 3 mile run before heading to REI with my mom.

Friday, was a rest day. I spent most of the day putting together my training schedule for the rest of the year. I also registered for the Liberty 1/2 Ironman that is on June 14th.

A new year

Taper-I like it but I don't! Most often people are welcoming the rest from the intense training-I don't! I decided to do a short taper before my upcoming marathon and I am ready to crawl out of my skin! I don't rest well! The plan is to continue the taper and restart the intense triathlon training upon returning from Florida.

Christmas Day-I did a short three mile run on the treadmill or dreadmill. The focus was speed surges with hills.

Wednesday(26th): I lifted weights-slightly increasing the weight however maintaining 3 sets of 12 reps.

Thursday-I missed my swim workout, however did a 6.2 mile run with the run club. The run was difficult as the terrain still remains very uneven and slippery.

Friday-I took the day off.

Saturday- 10.5 mile run around the lakes. The trails were terrible! I really need to invest in some Yak Traks!

Sunday-I took the day off.

Monday-I did two hours on the trainer and then did free weights at home. The two hours were very long and BORING! I can't wait to ride my bike outside!

Tuesday-Happy New Year! I got in the pool today and felt great! I was really looking forward to getting in the pool! 1250 yards.
